Let the waves hit your feet
and the sand be your seat

Dog Friendly

Bring your dog to St. Simons Island. However, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, dogs are prohibited on the beach from 9am-6pm except between Beach Access Points 1-6. During allowable times and in non-summer months, dogs may be unleashed if they remain under the
control of the handler. Handlers must clean up after pets.

Frederica Park’s dog park is also a welcoming spot for you and your pet.

Sea Turtles

Each year, sea turtles flock to the shores of St. Simons for nesting season. As much as we like to play in the sand, beaches also serve as sea turtle nesting habitats. Please respect their habitat by doing the following:

Take care of your trash! Plastic and other trash are very harmful to turtles and sea life.

Knock down sandcastles and fill holes when you leave the beach. They act as an obstacle course for nesting sea turtle mothers and hatchlings.

Take your tents and chairs. It is easy for turtles to get trapped in chairs or tent lines, especially in the dark.

Turn off the lights. Lights may confuse nesting and hatching turtles prompting them to move toward the artificial light and away from the ocean.

Leave the turtles alone. If you see a nesting turtle, give her plenty of space. Approaching a turtle can scare her off
the beach. She may dump her eggs in the ocean where they can’t survive.
